Chapter Nineteen

Kennedy found herself pressed between the counter and Hunter's hard body, and she couldn't think of a place she'd rather be. Her hands found their way beneath his shirt, and she ran them up over his abs and chest. Muscles. So beautiful. He was the kind of guy a woman would overlook a long list of faults to be with for a night, minus the long list of faults. Oh, he had some. She just couldn't think of any right now.

She let out an indelicate squeal when he grabbed her butt and lifted her up to the counter with no warning. Her shorts were short enough that she could feel the welcome coolness of the granite on her thighs. Her sandals hung off her feet, so she helped them the rest of the way off, then Hunter worked his way in between her legs, pressing himself into her, making her body pulse with the need for more contact. Closer. Without clothes in the way. She wondered if she could keep it quiet if they snuck upstairs to her room…

As he kissed her, he lifted her T-shirt and slid his hands up her sides, massaging with his thumbs until he reached her bra. She arched forward slightly, waiting for him to delve beneath the bottom edge of the material, craving his flesh on her breasts. Instead, he lowered his hands and then set about ridding her of the feminine scarf Ivy had arranged around her neck on her way out of the apartment hours ago. The scarf, which had been an awkward pain in the ass all night at work, ended up on the floor, along with her shirt and bra, in no time flat, and then his hands were all over her, kneading, caressing, cupping her breasts. He kissed his way down her neck, over her collarbone, lower. He worshipped her nipples, one and then the other, with his tongue, lips, little nips of his teeth, until she was breathless with need. Every touch intensified the hollow ache at her core.

Kennedy was lost in the sensations and barely registered the sound of her belt buckle jangling as he unfastened it. As she ran her fingers through his coarse hair, he undid her button, her zipper, and then his fingers dipped inside her shorts and underwear. As his touch inched lower, she moaned and writhed against him. He swept a finger over her magic spot. Kennedy's head fell back and her hips came forward, but then he retreated, pulling his hand away from her.

"Hunter…"

He moved his hands to her lower back and pulled her shorts and underwear down, helped her to wriggle out of them, and tossed them over his shoulder, leaving her completely naked. And him fully clothed. Again.

"This isn't—"

And then his mouth was on her, between her thighs, teasing her molten center, licking and swirling and nibbling and… "God."

She couldn't have formed a full sentence if she'd wanted to.

In no time flat, a tingling started deep within her
